Leaving Feels Good
A flash-fiction piece
I wrote a short flash-fiction sentence (or two) as part of the Merrows’ Moon Academy monthly writing challenge.
The prompt was:
Theme: Witches
Prompt 1: Elphaba vibes/aesthetic
Prompt 2: FLYING is the required action that you need to include prominently.
And here is the final Wildcard Prompt: Somewhere in the story, you must casually work in the full titles of at least three songs from the musical Wicked. Use the exact phrasing of these song titles. Major kudos if you can squeeze in more than three.
In accordance with Merrows’ Moon Academy’‘s PAN511: Independent Study, my submission is merely a short few sentences of flash-fiction. Behold:
“Leaving Feels Good”
She cackled triumphantly, flying over the moon-drenched treetops, her body and broom defying gravity, as the small-minded townsfolk below shouted with unadulterated loathing, “No one mourns the wicked!” Indeed, she thought. No one would mourn her, and that was okay. She was leaving. This time, for good.

In my very narrow knowledge of wicked, I think I recognize defying gravity and No one mourns the wicked 🥲🤣
I love the imagery and I don’t need to know anything to know it’s about a wicked witch
I love this!
